Psychotherapy in East London, Hackney.

About Me

I am a psychotherapist working from a private room in my home in Hackney (E9) and online.

I can offer a safe and non-judgmental space in which we can work together to explore your worries and what you’d like to change.

I work from a psychodynamic/psychoanalytic approach, which means understanding how our early lives have formed strategies that might be contributing to unhelpful patterns in adulthood.

I have many years’ experience working with people in need of help and support, with particular expertise in eating disorders and a PhD in psychology. I aim to work with you through any difficult issues that might be holding you back, whether it’s anxiety, depression, struggles with eating, addiction, sexual or relationship problems, PTSD, issues with self-esteem etc. In my work as a psychotherapist, I work with the past, as well what’s happening in the present, and any hopes for the future to help people make sense of their lives so that they feel relieved of suffering and able to move forward in a positive way.

I work relationally, meaning I believe that a positive and collaborative therapeutic relationship is key to helping people to heal and change.

About Therapy

Therapy provides an opportunity and a relationship to work through difficult issues which get in the way of being able to live fully. Understanding entrenched patterns which contribute to ongoing distress, as well as their origins, can enable profound transformation and healing. These changes can lead to greater self-acceptance, and a richer, more fulfilling life. I believe that this process needs safety, sensitivity, warmth, and respect, as well as insightful thinking, and I aim to provide these.

At the initial appointment which lasts for 1 hour you can begin to tell me about yourself and what it is that is worrying you. We will explore your current issues, your expectations of treatment and a more general conversation about your life history. This session enables you to see who I am and how I work, ask any questions you may have about the process of psychotherapy. We will then arrange ongoing sessions that last 50 minutes, usually at the same time and day. I work on both a short-term and long-term basis and typically this is open-ended.

My practice is based in Hackney, just off Well Street and a short walk from Homerton or Hackney Central station.
